Security bollards are needed on a busy street to stop nuisance parking so that emergency services vehicles pass through easily.
A campaign group in Eastbourne has raised its concerns with their local MP after dangerous parking on a tight cul-de-sac at the town's Macquarie Quay Estate meant that bulkier vehicles, like ambulances and fire engines, could not get through effectively.
Residents say motorists are parking illegally on both sides of the street, potentially blocking off an ambulance needing to pass through in an emergency.
Measures such as the introduction of security bollards and double yellow lines have been suggested as preventative solutions.
The Macquarie Quay Estate Management Company backed the group's claims, saying that vehicles are now "frequently parked in dangerous, illegal positions" and noted a string of incidents earlier this year when emergency vehicles could not gain access.
"With potential life–threatening risk, getting the problem parking issue resolved has remained the number one priority of the estate management company's directors."
Earlier this month security bollards were successfully installed to stop dangerous driving on a street in Lancashire.
