An elderly man who has witnessed countless cars crash into his house had asked the local council to provide crash barriers, it has been stated.
According to the Irish Times, Martin McGuane, who is 80, witnessed the most recent crash on Sunday, when he was woken in the early hours of the morning when a car crashed into the wall of his farm.
His house, in Tubber, County Clare, is a notorious accident spot. There have been six serious crashes and 20 other minor collisions in the past decade.
The most recent incident has put focus on Clare County Council after they previously refused to put up traffic barriers at the spot, the news provider said.
Mr McGuane's son, Aidan, told the news source: "There have been so many accidents right here it's unbelievable. Of all the crashes here, cars have ended up in the garden six times now and the wall has been knocked every time. We asked the council to put a crash barrier there but they said because of liability issues we would have to do it ourselves. But then we would be liable if someone hit it and was hurt."
Recently a group of schoolchildren launched a petition for the installation of crash barriers on part of a busy road in east Yorkshire.
