Joy for Romford residents as metal railings secured
Residents who protested after metal railings were taken down are rejoicing after they will be re-installed.

Colchester Road in Harold Wood, Romford, were told by Transport for London (TfL) that the pedestrian guardrail will be erected on a stretch of the A12 road, according to the Romford Recorder.

The metal railings, removed in May of this year, were deemed to offer no protection, according to the news source.

But after undertaking a safety audit on the busy road TfL found that residents strongly opposed their removal due to risk from speeding cars.

And now the railings will be installed in the coming week.

A TfL spokesman told the news provider: "Following a further safety audit, TfL has now decided to reinstall a short section of pedestrian guardrail next to the recreation area at Paine's Bridge."

Resident Andrea Pinnell told the news source she was pleased action had been taken.

"It is not a complete victory but we think it is good enough because the most important thing is that they are putting the guard railings back on the most dangerous part of the road."

This month metal railings were installed along the Padiham Greenway in Burnley.
