Metal railings have formed part of a host of developments that have succeeded in improving Formby town centre in Merseyside.

According to the Formby Times, the metal railings were installed at the junction of Three Tuns Lane after funding was secured from the local parish council.

In addition the war memorial was restored, planters were installed in advance of the Britain in Bloom awards and a brand new bench has been developed.

Councillor Mike Coles, chairman of the parish council, said: "This follows the work done in the village centre and that this project had been planned for some time. Costs were well within budget.

"The parish council is now working with the area committee to see what can be done next year and in the future."

Situated on the north-west coast, Formby boasts fantastic coastline views, pine woods, and miles of beautiful beach.
