A councillor is delighted that his 12-month project to improve safety measures on a hectic road has finally paid off.
According to the Dudley News, Bryan Cotterill has been calling for metal railings to be erected on a dangerous stretch of Bowling Green Road and Saltwells Road for some time.
Just two small pieces of metal railing are currently at the junction that connects the two roads, causing the councillor to "laugh out loud" when they were installed a year ago.
After pressuring for more metal railings at committee and council meetings, the council has confirmed that additional security measures will go ahead.
Mr Cotterill told the newspaper: "I asked for railings as the road is regularly used by children and parents attending Netherbrook Primary School and I did get them, but I couldn’t believe it when I saw them. I actually laughed out loud and asked where the rest were."
Earlier this month traffic barriers were introduced on a road in Stafford and successfully eased busy traffic flow.
