A newly-formed community group in Crew is considering the installation of high security fencing to stamp out nuisance youths.

According to the Crewe Chronicle, residents in Willaston have reported several incidents of anti-social behaviour stemming from a group of youngsters who usually frequent a playing field in the village.

Now a steering group, made up of parish councillors, has been formed, and one of their first key proposals to combat the problem is set to be security fencing.

They want to erect fencing at the far side of the field, because this is where the site neighbours a farmer's field. The youths are using the field as an escape route if the police are called.

Parish clerk Martin Langhorn told the newspaper: "The farmer whose land adjoins the playing field has agreed to supply the labour if suitable fencing can be sourced."

Willaston has a population of 2,277 and is close to Nantwich town centre.
