A £3.5 million scheme to improve motorway logistics near Portishead, Somerset, is nearing completion.
The project, which is renovating parts of the M5, has seen workers enhance traffic barriers, lights and the highway surface of the nearby roundabout. The northbound slip road will also be widened as it nears an end.
Trial tests near junction 19 of the traffic lights are currently underway as North Somerset Council and the Highways Agency prepares to reopen the motorway and get operations back to normal.
Officials of the road organisation have also said the M5 is set for overnight closures near to Bristol as part of a managed motorway scheme.
Elfan Ap Rees, North Somerset Council's executive member for highways, said: "Traffic flows have already improved at junction 19 and by the time all the improvements are complete the misery of prolonged hold-ups for motorists in this area should be a thing of the past."
