Play area fencing is needed alongside other security measures at a charity's new premises.

Staff and students from the Basics Plus charity, based in Scarborough, are delighted that they are moving into their new site, which formerly housed a farm, at Racecourse Road, East Ayton.

The £400,000 redevelopment project will see the building of a farm shop, cafe, children's play area and allotments.

Director Avis Turner told the news provider: "We're delighted! This is a really big thing for us because even though we've been going for 20 years, we've never owned any property before.

"There is a lot to do and it won't happen overnight, but we're hoping to have made a difference to the way things look within a couple of weeks."

The social enterprise, which works to connect people with special needs with local businesses and the community, will hold a "Betton Buddies Week", and hope new volunteers will come forward to help with the revamp.

In addition to security fencing for the play area, repair of new equipment and filling in potholes are also high priority.
