Nearly £9,000 has been spent on installing security bollards at a park in Cardiff, it has been stated.

The traffic barriers were needed because workers and students from University Hospital Wales were parking on the grass verges in order to avoid paying for parking in a nearby car park, Wales Online has said.

Residents have been concerned for their safety and also that of the plant life at the park.

And now the security bollards have been installed there has been a marked difference.

Heath councillor Fenella Bowden told the news source: "I have been campaigning on this for a while and had seen people parking their cars and then walking through the hospital. Now hopefully all the plants will return to the grass verges and it'll be better for park users."

The university responded by affirming that a range of travel options were available for staff and students.

According to yourwales.co.uk, the council will also be installing a vehicle maintenance access gate at the park.ADNFCR-3337-ID-19891676-ADNFCR
