A nine foot high security fence is to be erected around a school playground as a result of health and safety fears, according to the Hornsey and Crouch End Journal.
Campsbourne Infant School in Hornsey wants to erect high security fencing to stop youngsters jumping over the wall after the school is closed. Teenagers are leaping over the wall to get through the playground, which is being used as a shortcut to get to nearby Nightingale Lane.
Concern for their safety has prompted management at the school to consider installing the fence.
"The [existing wall] has been identified as a security risk because we have had a couple of incidents with older children using it as a cut-through to get to Nightingale Lane and a few where footballs have been kicked into the playground," head teacher Angela Ryan told the news source.
According to the news provider, parents were initially concerned about the security fence plans after believing it would surround the entire school site.
But Mrs Ryan has allayed fears after reassuring parents the fence is planned for a smaller area.
"Some parents did contact me saying they thought I was putting a fence all the way around the school, but it is just a tiny area at the back of the school," she said.
