Guildford Borough Council has given the go-ahead for an 11-hour music festival in Ash later this summer.

The council has granted a licence to the organisers of the Fake Festivals music event, which will take place on the town's Carrington recreation ground.

Some 1,200 people are expected to attend the event and high security fencing will be erected around the perimeter of the playing field.

The Fake Festivals music event will take place on August 21st and will run from 12.30 to 11.45 BST.

However, the choice of festival location has been criticised by local police.

Ash neighbourhood sergeant Alison Adams said: "The large open space of the recreation ground has numerous entrances and exit routes which are open to pedestrian traffic.

"I do not believe that [security fencing] at the event will be sufficient to control entry to the festival."ADNFCR-3337-ID-19882320-ADNFCR
