Security fencing has been called for by an Alabama resident after he was kidnapped by two prisoners who escaped from a work-release facility in Decatur County, reports timesdaily.com.
Thomas Terrell, 61, who lives near the facility, was confronted by escapees Danny Wayne Moore, 44, and Brenton Wayne Smith, 27, who were armed with a screwdriver and box cutter.
The two men forced their way into Mr Terrell's car, holding him hostage, while they drove across the neighbouring counties of Madison, Lauderdale and Colbert.
Mr Terrell, who escaped after four hours, said that the work release facility should have security fencing to protect those who live nearby.
His views were backed by state representative Micky Hammon, who said that security fencing was a "reasonable request" and the incident "should reopen a look at procedures."
The men were finally caught on Wednesday at a hotel in Birmingham, Alabama, after a two day man hunt.
Three prisoners escaped from a prison in Kingman, Arizona on July 30th after scaling a 10ft security fence that had not been topped with razor wire.
