A Guelph anti-poverty charity is planning on tearing down huge sections of high security fencing during the upcoming G20 summit in Toronto.

The organisation is hoping to breach the four-kilometre security fencing solution, which surrounds much of downtown Toronto's major landmarks and hotels.

Julian Ichim, one of the organisers of Sense of Security, claimed that the high security fencing was a sign of increasing militarisation of international political events.

Speaking to the Guelph Mercury, Ichim said: "We wanted to open up an abandoned building, but due to policing we couldn't do that."

Ichim told the new provider that at least 25 people from Guelph would march to the high security fencing and they are expecting to be joined by a number of other groups.

He said that the organisation had no intention of gate-crashing the leaders' meeting but simply wanted to symbolically remove a section of the temporary security fencing.

Work on the G20 security fencing was completed earlier this week.ADNFCR-3337-ID-19856258-ADNFCR
