New security fencing has been erected in Newton to protect children as they go to and from school.
The stretch of fencing runs 160 metres over Newton Lane Bridge.
According to the Chester Chronicle, the old security fencing was in a state of disrepair and both parents and the local primary school raised safety concerns with the local council.
The new fencing has been funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council's local neighbourhood budget, with the support of councillors John Ebo and Adrian Walmsley.
It will protect pupils from Newton Primary School and students from the University of Chester Campus at Kingsway.
Councillors are looking to raise more cash to erect security fencing on the other side of the bridge.
Recently, Conservative councillor for Leasowe and Moreton East, on the Wirral, Ian Lewis ,called for residents to get in touch with him with any ideas that could reduce antisocial behaviour in the region - such as erecting high security fencing or metal railings.
