A 1.8 metre high security fence will be installed next week on a busy and dangerous road in Northampton.

Tragically, a teenager was killed in a collision with a van on the A45 road last October, according to the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.

In the wake of the accident, Anne Pemper, coroner for the area, intended to write to the Highways Authority to ask them to provide a sign warning motorists pedestrians may be crossing the road, the news source said.

Now high security fencing and road safety signs will be installed on a stretch of the road.

A spokesperson for the Highways Agency told the news provider: "The Highways Agency takes the safety of our road users extremely seriously, and after consulting with Northamptonshire County Council, Northamptonshire Police and Wootton and East Hunsbury Parish Council, we have made a commitment that a 1.8 metre high safety fence will be erected on the A45 at Blackymore."

Work on the security fencing is due to start on July 25th.

Earlier this month security fencing was planned for the perimeter of a primary school in Hornsea.
