Security fencing lapses at the World Cup tournament in Cape Town could be the reason why an England fan ended up in the team's changing room after their poor performance against Algeria on Friday.

According to the Daily Telegraph's chief sports reported Paul Kelso, FIFA have been "draconian" in their handling of high security fencing breaches at the event - even when the problems were the fault of the organisers.

The journalist claimed that all England fan Pavlos Joseph was guilty of was needing the toilet.

Meanwhile he highlighted the case of a fellow journalist who was arrested the day before Joseph for taking a short-cut through a gap in one of the tournament's high security fencing barriers.

Kelso said: "The day before Joseph strolled into the England dressing room at Green Point I watched the police forcibly detain a British journalist who had attempted to take a short cut through a gap in [high security fencing] to get to the media centre."

Cape Town has ramped up its security ahead of both England games so far and is expected to do so tomorrow (June 23rd) ahead of the England vs Slovenia game.ADNFCR-3337-ID-19852074-ADNFCR
