The public screening of England's next World Cup match against Algeria may be in jeopardy in Bristol despite heightened access control and the installation of high security fencing.

According to the Bristol Evening Post, when England scored their first and only goal of the tournament against the USA on Saturday, fans smashed through security fencing during the ensuing celebrations.

A spokesperson for Bristol City Council said that as a result it is questioning whether to screen the second game. The first was shown on a big screen in the city's Hyundai Fan Park in Queen Square.

Deputy chief executive of the council Jon House told the news provider: "Our concern is that while a very large number of people who turned up were positive and very well behaved, there were a very small number of people who caused problems in the bar area and around the outer fences."

He claimed that the council would review the effectiveness of temporary fencing solutions on the site, as well as the number of security staff on hand to deal with such unrest.

The Home Office is also conducting a review of security for the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games after concerns were raised that the budget for security at the event is becoming too large.ADNFCR-3337-ID-19840632-ADNFCR
