Climate change activists acting under the Plane Stupid banner used high security fencing to create a mini golf course during their protest at Aberdeen airport, it has been claimed.

According to Claire Sandison, a member of the BAA security staff, she found the group "piecing together" high security fencing with bolts.

Speaking at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Mrs Sandison was reported by the Guardian as saying: "I was very concerned for the safety of the airfield."

The paper notes that when pressed further about what the protestors were using the high security fencing for by prosecutor Alan Townsend, she said: "Playing mini golf with miniature, children's golf clubs."

Shelagh McCall, a defence lawyer at the trial, asked: "When you say they were playing golf they, were they using plastic golf balls?"

Mrs Sandison replied: "Yes."

The nine defendants have been accused of forcing the closure of Aberdeen airport on March 3rd 2009, by storming the facility and chaining themselves to high security fencing.ADNFCR-3337-ID-19843850-ADNFCR
