A community payback team have helped give a park in Rushden a new look.
The offenders have transformed the park by carrying out security fencing repairs and paintings over a period of three months, Northantset.co.uk reported.
Jo Brown, of Trafford Road in Rushden, said: "The park looks much better now and we can look forward to applying for grants as a community group for new play equipment."
According to Ranjit Samat, community payback supervising officer, the group worked extremely hard removing offensive graffiti, as well as staining and repairing fencing and posts along the park perimeter.
The work not only challenged the offenders but improved their problem-solving skills too.
Having noticed a vast improvement to the area, local residents have commented on the "excellent work", Mr Samat said.
Earlier this month, highways bosses in Kettering launched a campaign to tackle the problem of litter on the roads. Councillor Alan Pote told Northantset.co.uk he would also like to see offenders made to clean up the mess through the community payback scheme.
