Residents in Wimbledon have voiced their concerns over a council decision to remove metal railings from a busy road in the town.
According to parents in the area, removal of the metal railings could put children's lives at risk, and they are urging Merton Council to replace the security fence.
The metal railings ran along Burlington Road - a busy through-route which passes three schools.
Resident Jenny Edmond-Smith told the Wimbledon Guardian: "The guard-rail was the only thing that stopped children and adults stepping into the road.
"It's not there anymore and sooner or later someone will be badly injured or killed on this blind and dangerous bend."
An earlier road safety report from the council claimed that the use of metal railings can sometimes stop pedestrians from considering road safety, the news provider stated.
Recently, a Hampshire mother called on councillors to install metal railings outside a nursery in Corby, reports the Evening Telegraph.
