A Sheffield resident has demanded that a dangerous hole in the city's centre is secured with a temporary high security fencing solution or filled in.
Speaking to the Sheffield Star, retired toolmaker Ronald Parkin said that his concern is that youngsters will climb in the hole off Bramall Lane, which is filled with water.
Sheffield City Council is taking action to fill the hole, which was dug without permission in a local back garden.
The unplanned work caused neighbouring gardens to subside.
Parkin said: "The hole off Denby Street has been there for some time but it is now filled with water - there are ducks swimming in it.
"I'm just waiting for someone to get killed there if they go for a swim. It needs to be filled in or fenced off."
Recently the Mineral Products Association launched a campaign to stop young people from jumping high security fencing and playing in quarries.
