A Welsh head teacher has called on his local council to erect high security fencing on a "loose ground" embankment near a dangerous river.
Eifion Jones' comments come after a pupil at his school fell into the river and had to be rescued by an RAF helicopter in Afon Rhythallt.
Speaking to the BBC, Mr Jones said that installation of security fencing was vital if a further incident was to be avoided.
"In all schools there are places where pupils can leave the site, and they know the rules, but a fence at this site is essential as it is a location used by local children outside school as well," he told the news provider.
"During the evening it is a place youngsters go to drink alcohol, and fires are lit, so there could be a very serious incident," he added.
Recently, Cemex UK backed a Mineral Products Association campaign to discourage young people from vaulting high security fencing and gaining access to British quarries.
