Metal gates and security fencing gave been installed around the perimeter of a pub in Aintree after it suffered from a string of arson attacks.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Blue Anchor has been firebombed four times in four months over the course of the summer, since it reopened after refurbishment by a pub chain.
The pub was torched in April, during the Grand National race event, petrol-bombed twice in June and petrol-bombed again last month in an attack believed to be committed by youngsters.
Now police have arrested six people after a series of raids in Kirkby, Melling, Fazakerley and Aintree.
A Merseyside police spokesman told the newspaper: "All six people were arrested on conspiracy to commit arson.
"They were released on police bail pending further inquiries."
Metal fencing and a 24-hour security presence are now at the site.
Earlier this month sound proof fencing was proposed as part of the development of a new JD Wetherspoon pub in Dereham.
