Vandals have pulled down inadequate security fencing at a sports pavilion in Scunthorpe, it has been reported.

According to the Scunthorpe Telegraph, the young criminals daubed the Sheffield Park Pavilion in the town with anti-police slogans after gaining access through broken security fencing.

The vandals managed to push the existing fencing over - highlighting the importance of installing high security fencing at sports pavilions.

The Sheffield Park Pavilion is currently being refurbished and the destruction, which was meted out over the weekend, has caused significant delays to the project.

Steve Ball, of Steve Ball Joinery, said: "They pulled the fencing down and then pulled the scaffolding over.

"We have put the scaffolding and the fencing back up and hopefully it will still be there in the morning."
