Automated gates and the law

When you are considering automation and access control, it is vital that the completed installation meets with current safety legislation, specifically the EU Machinery directive 98/37/EC and 2006/42/EC, both for your peace of mind and avoid possible costly litigation.

Jacksons manufacture a range of different gate systems and gate automation to suit your needs to create the complete solution for your perimeter security, for use in high security application or for regular access use, Jacksons can manufacture and custom make to your exact requirements. Our gates are constructed from steel, timber or a combination of both, can be customised to suit requirements. All of our automation comes with a 25 month guarantee (subject to a service contract being taken out before the end of the first year.)

Jacksons automated gates and barriers meet with the essential health and safety requirements and are properly CE marked as required by law. Additionally the products are designed and engineered to exceed the standards set out in BS EN 12978 and BS EN 12453 in relation to gate safety.

You should be aware that not only must the equipment used be CE marked, but the installation too. For example, by automating a driveway gate, it becomes classed as a machine, so the whole structure comprising of gates, openers and safety devices must be designed and installed to meet the defined standards.
