Metal railings have been put up at woodland in Bedfordshire to protect both the walkers and mountain bikers who use it.
The Forestry Commission erected the fencing at Rowney Warren Wood in Shefford, a popular spot for walkers that neighbours a mountain bike park called Fat Trax, Bedfordshire on Sunday reports.
The four-foot high fencing has been installed following concerns that walkers may "inadvertently" stray into the mountain biking site, which offers riders a variety of trails, including slalom, 4x4, dirt jump and downhill.
Cheryl Lundberg of the Forestry Commission said: "Previously, there was a danger that walkers could inadvertently wander into the area where mountain bikers are enjoying their high-speed exploits," the newspaper reported.
"To avoid any potential for injury among bikers or walkers, we have installed a perimeter fence around the park," she was also quoted as saying.
The fencing will also act as a boundary marker for the bikers, Ms Lundberg said.
