A council said it is prepared to step in and install urgently needed security fencing at a former hospital site in Denbighshire, Wales.
Denbighshire council has issued a works notice stating it intends to enter the former North Wales hospital to carry out the work, the BBC reports.
There are concerns the building is deteriorating significantly and the owners of the site have failed to respond to warning letters.
Phil Ebbrell, Denbighshire conservation architect told the news provider: "It is disappointing that this has become necessary but despite several requests and two warning letters the owners have taken no action, therefore, there is no alternative for us but to use the powers in the listed building legislation to ensure that the work is done."
The authority will put up security fencing within two weeks unless the owners take action.
Opened in 1848, the hospital shut in 1995 and has been vandalised and fire damaged since.
