New play area fencing has been unveiled in Newport after funding was given by housing developers to improve facilities in the local area.

The Kidz Zone playground was launched last Saturday (August 6th) just off Main Road and many of the area's local children and parents were on hand to try the equipment out, reports goolecourier.co.uk.

As well as a new seesaw, the site also features swings, a climbing frame and a bench.

Lea Anne Wright, East Riding of Yorkshire Council's commuted sums officer, told the news provider that designers went to the local primary school to see what the children wanted.

She added: "The existing play equipment on the site was 22 years old and had to be removed, so money provided by Headrow Developers Limited was awarded to the parish council, which did lots of consultation with local residents about what they'd like to see on the site."

Locals in Chard, Somerset, also welcomed the installation of new play area fencing as Snowdon Park was unveiled at the weekend.
