Chard's children and local residents will welcome new play area fencing and equipment to the town as Snowdon Park is officially unveiled this weekend.

South Somerset District Council and Redrow Homes have put the £23,870 facility into action after the playground was agreed as part of the planning permission process.

In addition to a log fort and embankment slide, children will also have access to seating, a timber alphabet wall and extensive landscaping, reports thisisthewestcountry.co.uk.

Rob Parr, a senior play and youth facilities officer, told the news provider that the site is already proving to be popular.

"This new play area has been designed to blend into the landscape and offer children a challenging play area that inspires their imagination and encourages role play games," he explained

"We've heard from the local playschool that parents have been taking their children there every day, which is fantastic."

Hillworth Park in Devizes also has new play area fencing after a £1.5 million refurbishment project.
