Residents in Alnwick, Northumberland have vented their anger at the council's continued delay to work on a bollard.
The Northumberland Gazette has reported that the bollard, which prevents vehicular access, had been planned to be put in place on St Michael's Lane five months ago.
An arch on the road was damaged after a van had tried to drive through it but got stuck halfway through.
Mark Turnbull, who owns Turnbull's of Alnwick Butchers, told the source that Alnwick Town Council had been "dragging its heels" in putting the security bollards in place.
He had originally called for the street to be for pedestrians and added that despite months of correspondence between himself and the council the bollard had only been put in place last week.
A spokeswoman for the council said that the delays had been due to underground mains and electric cable. She added that the electricity board had to be notified before completion.
In North Tyneside the News Guardian reported that another trader has complained to the council over sec was put outside his shop hampering disabled access.
