Security bollards in King's Lynn proved a problem for one motorist, who found herself in difficulty after they started rising from the ground.

The 32-year-old was driving along the junction between the A47 and the bus lane in Saddlebow Road, where security bollards are installed that emerge once a bus has passed.

A crane had to be sent to remove the MG sports car from the bollards, leaving the road partially blocked for more than two hours, reports the Eastern Daily Press.

Speaking about the incident, a county council spokesman said: "The bus lane is clearly marked, but we will need to establish the circumstances of the accident."

They noted that it will be established whether or not any cost will need to be obtained with the driver, alongside an investigation into the breach of any traffic laws.

This follows the news that residents of Reading had complained after security bollards installed along Norcot Road had led to many people being hit with fines.
