Security bollards will be part of the £120,000 upgrade of a street in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

The facelift is timed to improve Red Lion Street in advance of the opening of the new Red Lion Quarter in March 2011, the Spalding Guardian reports.

In addition to security bollards, the road and pavement will be rebuilt, and block paving and a ramp installed.

The work is expected to start from January 10th.

Street traders have been told there will be some disruption while the work takes place.

"We are very excited about the Red Lion Quarter. It is a much more pleasant outlook for everybody down here and we are hoping it brings a lot more people," Jane Fletcher, a partner at Flowers N Things, told the newspaper.

The Red Lion Quarter will host a further education college, a food court, and small business units.ADNFCR-3337-ID-800314795-ADNFCR
