Sports netting will be among the new pieces of equipment that will be on offer to Matlock later this month as a new leisure centre gets set for opening.

The £12 million facility will open to the public at midday next Wednesday (August 24th), making it the single-biggest development ever undertaken by the Derbyshire Dales District Council.

To celebrate the opening, bakewelltoday.co.uk is giving its readers the chance to be the first person to jump into the Arc Leisure Matlock's eight-lane competition swimming pool.

In addition to this, the opening will also see the unveiling of a 50-station fitness centre and a second sports hall that will see several activities - including dance, martial arts, aerobics and parties - take place.

Sports netting will also be available to use in Northumberland after a local school took over the leisure centre in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, giving youngsters the opportunity to use equipment for PE and extra curricular lessons.
