Parking barriers will be installed at a hospital in Stevenage in an attempt to end problems caused because of a lack of spaces.
Around 500 new bays will be available to people in the £7.9 million cark park that opens later today (September 2nd), while the zone will now be pay-on-exit.
Furthermore, the site will also have 63 designated spaces for blue badge holders, making it easier for people to access the hospital, BBC News reports.
Peter Gibson, head of public affairs for the East and North Hertfordshire Trust, told the news provider that there will be no change to the hospital's income.
"People often think of hospital [car parks] as some sort of money-grabbing scheme," he explained.
"For us it's not, we just need to make sure it covers its costs and if there is a surplus then we'll plough that back into patient services."
Oxford could also see the introduction of new parking barriers as the local council looks to move a car park and allow the construction of student flats.
