Temporary fencing solutions have been put up around the site of a former college campus in preparation for its demolition.
The old Tresham College building, in Kettering, has been surrounded by security fencing and signs warning of asbestos removal, the Evening Telegraph reports.
It will be demolished to make way for a residential complex comprising 48 private homes and 59 retirement homes.
The project was initially rejected by Kettering Council who thought it would be too imposing but revised plans have been approved and the fencing has gone up this week.
Mark Silverman, principal and chief executive of Tresham College, told the newspaper that the demolition of the college's former home would free-up money to go into offering new courses to students.
"Approval of this scheme supports the other regeneration projects currently under way in the town centre and will facilitate future expansion of further and higher education at our Windmill Avenue campus," he said.
Security fencing is often used to protect the public from demolition projects.
Recently, barriers went up around a Leicester pub destroyed in an arson attack in order to prepare it for scheduled demolition.
