Tens of thousands of pounds have helped residents in the Evesham area construct a new playground for their children and they hope to unveil the new play area fencing later this month.

The Pool Garden Play Area, situated in Fladbury, will be opened on September 11th after local residents raised £35,000 to have it built.

Among the biggest donors were Wychavon District, Fladbury Parish Council, Severn Waste and Awards For All, eveshamjournal.co.uk reports.

Resident Louise Bugg, who led the fundraising effort, told the news provider that "challenging pieces of equipment" will be installed.

"It includes a Wendy House, a ship's bridge and a tunnel as well as swings for younger children," she explained.

"We don't know all the names of the children on the picture we have of the time, but hope they will come forward and celebrate the new opening with us on the day."

Barrington will also see the opening of a new playground after funding was given for fencing and equipment.
