Bournemouth residents battle to save play area

Bournemouth residents battle to save play area
The town may boast the fourth best beach in Europe but there is an ongoing revolt amongst the people of Bournemouth.

A group of residents in the town are battling to prevent the security fencing going up for a final time around a jeopardised play park.

The children's facility in Strouden Field, Queen's Park, is under threat as the town's authority wants to close the play area in a bid to create an "even distribution of facilities across the borough".

However, these claims have been branded as "crazy" by the opposing residents who want to keep the play area as a place that people young and old use on a regular basis.

Carole Roscoe, of Brackendale Road, has rallied the locals in opposition to this new council initiative with 50 people signing a petition against it.

She told the Daily Echo: "It's [the play area] an amazing place. There's a very strong local feeling for this swing park and I think that the reasons given in the council letter are the opposite of what we believe about it."
