Motorists facing more roadworks in Holyhead

Motorists facing more roadworks in Holyhead
Motorists in Holyhead are facing traffic congestion as the council is planning to install safety bollards on a layby around Marine Square.

The Anglesey Mail has reported that the council has already spent £600,000 regenerating the town and now plan to close a layby in the area with the aim to turn it into a pavement.

Businesses and traders have condemned the move saying that it will seriously affect revenue within the upcoming holiday season.

Objectors have pointed to the downturn in custom when the regeneration of the town took place over the spring.

The council has defended the move saying it was done in the interest of safety.

Dave Morris, who runs the Beach Hut cafe, told the source: "My concern is that people will be put off coming here while the work is going on. Last time they did the work here it was between Easter and July - I lost thousands of pounds and I don’t want to see that happening again."

Traders in Lincolnshire are also facing similar Christmas woes as the council in the area is planning to close the Trent Bridge which many believe will hinder business.
