A play area in Tooting Common, Greater London, has been officially opened following a major regeneration project.
The playground received a grant of £215,000 for a revamp and councillors invited children and parents from the area to come forward with their suggestions. The new facility has been hailed as a great success from everyone involved and gives youngsters a place to play once again.
Children and toddlers celebrated once the security fencing came down and can now benefit from brand new play equipment such as a timber climbing frame, a hammock, swings and a giant sand pit.
Kathy Tracey, councillor, said: "This is a tremendous natural-look playground for children in the area. It has a great range of new equipment and is sure to be a popular leisure spot for local families."
It was just one of a number of play areas opening across the country as Oldham celebrated a new facility unveiling with a fun day of face painting and circus skills.
