Poole's Twin Sails Bridge has experienced problems after a set of traffic barriers caused disruption for motorists.

The £21.6 million flyover, which was officially opened on April 4th, has experienced a number of teething problems since it's unveiling.

It was closed for a brief period on Saturday (April 21st) following a "minor issue" which has resulted in a barrier being replaced.

According to the Daily Echo, it is unclear how the problem occurred but the council's team of engineers have launched an investigation in to what potentially went wrong with the barriers, which also forced schools minister Nick Gibb to use the other Poole Bridge.

John Rice, engineering and maintenance manager for Borough of Poole, said: "One of the traffic barriers on the Twin Sails Bridge has been replaced in order to maintain the safe flow of traffic on the road. We are investigating the exact nature of the issue to determine whether any further works may be required."
