The traditional holiday season may be coming to a close but some Brits might be looking to future breaks and in the next few years they will be able to take advantage of a new Centre Parcs development in Bedfordshire.
Officials announced that the newest member the group will be situated in Woburn Forest, just a short drive from the town of Woburn, and will give the UK its fifth holiday park of this ilk following on from other sites in Sherwood Forest, Elveden, Warminster and Penrith.
Construction company ISG has landed the contract to deliver the main accommodation complexes for the latest Centre Parcs development which will be welcoming guests from spring 2014.
The £61 million agreement will see ISG construct 625 lodges across the 365-acre site and officials have revealed that the project will be put on a fast-track programme that will see it completed within 59 weeks. Work is due to begin in November with the construction of two, three and four bedroom lodges using off-site manufactured timber frames. The accommodation facilities come in range of different specifications from Woodland to Executive and Exclusive lodges to satisfy the needs of each customer.
ISG has stated that the structures will be built away from the Bedfordshire site and then brought in to be configured around woodland clusters involving the linking of certain lodges to form these patterns. As well as providing a positive service for its customers, Centre Parcs and ISG have looked into the environmental performance of each structure to maintain the timber has been sustainably sourced.
Craig Tatton, ISG managing director of UK Construction, said: "There has been a great deal of interest in this high profile development and I'm delighted that ISG has emerged as Center Parcs' contractor of choice.
"Delivering 625 lodges across such a large site over an accelerated timeframe is a logistically challenging undertaking, especially when you factor in the restricted woodland setting and simultaneous infrastructure development works on site."
