Bradford school wants security fencing to protect children

Bradford school wants security fencing to protect children
A Bradford primary school wants to erect perimeter security fencing to protect its children after receiving advice from Ofsted.

Allerton Primary School has submitted the plan, which also includes closing part of a public footpath, in an application to Bradford Council, the Bradford & District Advertiser reports.

The school said it was acting on the advice of Ofsted to protect children during school teaching periods.

School fencing will surround the perimeter of the site, but metal gates will be included within the fence to allow community access.

Last year, another Bradford school announced plans to install school fencing. Our Lady of Victories School said it wanted to erect fencing to stop vandals targeting the site and its new play equipment.

There is a fence at the school site already, but it is considered too low and in poor condition.

Headteacher John Devlin told the Telegraph & Argus: "The broad aim is to protect the children at playtimes – that's a period when they are most vulnerable."ADNFCR-3337-ID-800346982-ADNFCR
