Cirencester Parish Church is to take down its security fencing after it fell over in strong winds injuring two women.
The fencing was blown over in strong gales on Tuesday (January 3rd) hitting two women and caused one of them, thought to be in her 70s, to lose consciousness temporarily. Now the church has said it will remove the fences to prevent any future injuries.
The Reverend Canon Leonard Doolan, vicar of Cirencester, said it was a "very unfortunate" incident.
He told the BBC: "Our principal concern is for the two people who are injured. We will now have to look into how the incident actually happened although clearly it was occasioned by the strong winds in Cirencester today."
The UK has been subject to severe gales in the past week with many buildings in Scotland and northern England suffering structural damage as roof tiles and trees were blown over.
