Worn-out and unsuitable play area fencing has been improved at a children's playground in Lancashire.
St Brides play area, close to St Christopher Road in Colchester, previously had outmoded wooden fencing surrounding it, the Lancashire Telegraph reported.
The fencing had gaps in its panels and was potentially unsafe.
A developer, which recently built four new houses in the Colchester area, paid £2,000 for work to install modern fencing. The cash was part of the planning agreement.
Paul Smith, Colchester councillor responsible for finance, told the newspaper the play area would now be better protected and praised the developer's work.
"The new fence has made the park a lot more secure. The wooden fence had large gaps in it. It is good developers are contributing funds which we can put towards good community projects," he said.
Recently, it was reported that the play area at Our Lady of Victories School, in Keighley, West Yorkshire, would benefit from security fencing.
The site has been plagued with acts of vandalism in recent weeks, the Telegraph & Argus reported.
