A play area in south Wales has been re-opened after a local supermarket replaced unfit hoardings with security fencing.
The site in Newport has been given a new lease of life after Lidl installed a mesh fence instead of the 12-foot hoarding which had been deemed unsafe.
The original agreement when the supermarket was built in the town was that it should install a play area, but the original divide had been criticised, forcing bosses at Lidl to take action and replace it.
Campaigners have said that they are "glad that work has been completed quickly" and it now means the play area can be viewed from the street.
Peter Davies, Stow Hill ward councillor, told the South West Argus: "It was disappointing that guidelines were breached and we have been asking Lidl to co-operate with us to get the situation resolved and it is great that they have turned up trumps!"
Many supermarkets have been subject to criticism for maintaining play areas with Asda being accused of "neglecting" a site in Cannock, Staffordshire.
