A park in Hull has been deemed unsafe by a concerned parent due to the lack of security fencing.

Anne Ware told the Hull Daily Mail that a lack of railings and fencing at Pearson Park was a hazard for youngsters playing in the area.

The park which has been at the heart of the Humberside city since 1860 is very popular with local people but Ms Ware believes that it could be dangerous for youngsters.

She is concerned that without the fencing children could run into the busy road, while the lack of appropriate fencing has also encouraged many "undesirable" characters to frequent the site, leaving broken bottles near the play area.

Hull City Council removed the fencing to install a zip line and reassured residents that the site would be assessed on a regular basis but Ms Ware has launched a petition to get them put back in.

She told the source: "The chipped bark on the floor means you don't know what is hidden - there could be smashed bottles or needles in there. I won't be bringing my children here until something is done."
