Security fencing will be installed or repaired at around 400 homes in Northern Ireland as a £1.7 million development project is announced.
The Northern Ireland Housing Executive says that two contracts to improve homes in Coleraine are now underway.
An external maintenance contract will see about 400 homes in the Heights and Articlave areas of the town will benefit from a facelift that will see fencing, windows, external doors, roofs, and paths replaced or repaired.
The second contract will see homes in Ballysally equipped with new kitchens, as well as the installation of smoke alarms to meet current standards.
District manager Gerry McCloskey welcomed both projects.
"At a time when the economic downturn has meant that some of our work programmes have had to be scaled back it is good to see this significant investment coming into Coleraine, benefiting tenants both in the town and across the rural areas of the borough," he said.
Recently, it was announced that over 3,000 properties in Liverpool will benefit from security fencing.
The Fencing Enterprise Team will install 75km of fencing around homes in the Speke and Garston area of the city, the Liverpool Echo said.
