Security fencing has been erected around a derelict hospital in West Yorkshire after the discovery of asbestos.
According to the Telegraph & Argus, Bingley Hospital has laid dormant since February this year and is scheduled for demolition.
However, now that asbestos and bats have been discovered in the building, the plans have stalled.
NHS Bradford and Airedale has secured the site with security fencing, guards and public warning signs.
Mike Dyson, estates manager for NHS Bradford and Airedale, said he was particularly concerned that children do not access the hospital.
"We would urge parents who live near the site to do their best to prevent their children from playing on the site as it could be dangerous. The building is starting to deteriorate and asbestos is a serious health hazard," he was quoted by the newspaper as saying.
A contractor will be employed to remove the potentially dangerous mineral.
According to the Health and Safety Executive, people working in buildings built before 2000 could come into contact with asbestos.
