Snow fencing has been deployed at a Canadian ski resort to enable skiers to hit the slopes earlier than usual.
Thanks to the fencing and good early season weather, Goat's Eye Mountain, in Banff National Park, opened on November 23rd, its earliest opening ever, the Ski Club of Great Britain reported.
Goat's Eye's Trail Crew were employed to lay over 25km of snow fencing by hand.
The fencing traps drifting snow in order to build up healthy piles of the white stuff on the mountain's slopes. Once up to the required level, the Trail Crew removes the fencing and moves it to another site, building up snow once again.
Offering over 1,800ft of vertical skiing, the mountain has its own train service, the Goat's Eye Express.
Banff National Park was Canada's first national park.
