A Scout group from Swindon is calling on residents from around the area to help protect their base against potential anti-social behaviour.

The Swindon Advertiser reported that the 1st Stratton Scout Group was left distraught after a private company damaged the security fencing surrounding their headquarters on Taylor Crescent.

It had been called into trim the hedges surrounding the hut but in the process managed to damage some of the perimeter fencing. Now, leaders of the organisation want local residents and businesses to help out with funds so that they can fix the broken structure.

Joanne Parker, Scout leader, told the source: "We need something put in place that is going to be more fixed, but we don't know exactly how much it will cost because it is quite a long field but it isn't something we can really afford because we are a charity and we don't have the money."

The Stratton branch of the Scout organisation managed generate over £26,000 in 2010, but does not have enough to fix this costly work.
